Intro to Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO)

and HEO Apprenticeships

HEO apprentices will have hours recognized toward a HEO ticket. This training will focus on Backhoe operations, and apprentices will be encouraged to achieve a SkilledTrades BC (ITA)-recognized Backhoe endorsement ticket.

Paid work experience apprenticeships are available in 2023!

Program Length: 4 weeks
Apprenticeship length: 8 weeks

  • Operating Fundamentals

  • Perform Job Tasks - Dig, Carry, Pile

  • Perform Job Tasks - Place, Spread

  • Perform Job Tasks - Load, Lift, Move with Forks

  • Perform Job Tasks - Back Blading, Front Grading

  • Perform Job Tasks - Mow, Harvest, Move Logs, Till

  • Perform Job Tasks - Excavate, Back-Fill

Requirements:

Must be physically able to operate machinery safely.
