I-FEAST

Indigenous-Led Foodlands Employment Apprenticeship Skills Training
(I-FEAST)combines essential skills training, cultural mentorship, leadership development, trades training, food sovereignty skills, and wrap-around supports to bolster capacity in Indigenous communities around economic self determination and food sovereignty. 

Who is this program for?

This program is designed for Indigenous participants who…

  • Are ready to stoke a fire in their life and/or their community

  • Can identify areas of needed support that will build internal and external capacity 

  • Can identify a clear employment or training goal or outcome for themselves as a result of this program and can commit to what it will take to get there

  • Want to learn and grow within cultural circles of safety and support

  • May need guidance and support to choose an apprenticeship pathway

Each participant will be supported to build an individualized training plan that will align with their interest, passion, barriers to employment or training, and meaningful work goals. 

Participants will have access to all cohorts and offerings:

Trades Sampler: Participants will rotate through various trades and work experience. This will include 4 days of cultural workshops including topics such as Indigenous language, traditional foods, and medicines.

Industry work tickets and safety: These training programs will happen concurrently with other training and will complement other courses.

Introductory Trades Training Intensives/ Pre-apprenticeship/ Admin:
A more intensive cohort to support refined trades skills development.

Barrier Supports and Essential Skills Training: Essential skills, soft skills, computer/digital skills, self-employment, and business planning.

Paid Apprenticeships or Work Experience: These will be offered on-site and through local/regional partnerships with employers and organizations.

Employment and/or Further Training and ongoing supports
Bridging participants to employment and further education/training experiences while offering ongoing barrier and employment support.

Currently, Tea Creek has 30 seats for this training and we are offering seats for 2024 and 2025. 

This program will run from June through to mid-fall. Participants need to be prepared to engage in training for the duration of the program.
